March 2023

MEETING only NO PROGRAM! The annual meeting for election of officers will be March 16th at 7 p.m. at the Genealogy Library 116 South 7th Street, Hiawatha.

April 2023

The first program of 2023 will be presented by Charles Baird of Hiawatha. Charles was born in Sabetha in 1950 to James L. Baird and Mary F. (Sterns) Baird. He and his family moved to Hiawatha in 1957 and he graduated Hiawatha High School class of 1968. Charles attended University of Kansas where he met his wife Caicey. They were married in 1975 and returned to Hiawatha were they have lived for almost 48 years. Charles will be speaking about the Baird family. The program will begin at 7 p.m., April 20th at the genealogy library at 116 South 7^th Street, Hiawatha.  

Refreshments will be served after the short business meeting.

May 2023

May program will be on May 18^th at the genealogy library at 116 South 7^th Street, Hiawatha. The program will begin at 7 p.m. The May program will be given by Penny Milroy, Genealogical Society member. Penny is a lifelong Hiawatha resident and will be giving a program about her grandfather; Frank John Reynolds, Sr. former mayor of Hiawatha.

June 2023

The June 15^th program at 7 p.m. at the genealogy library, 116 South 7^th Street, Hiawatha will be given by Wes Miller of Hamlin. Wes is going to continue discussing the small towns of Northeast Kansas.

July 2023

                The July meeting will be July 20^th with Wes Miller giving the program on rural Kansas towns. The program starts at 7 p.m. in the genealogy library at 116 S. 7^th in Hiawatha. We have a short business meeting after the program and refreshments are served. Please join us on July 20^th.

                Wendell Ganstrom will be the guest speaker for the August 17^th meeting. Wendell is going to give an update on the program he did last year about the Oregon/California Trail that runs through his property south of Robinson. The program starts at 7 p.m. in the genealogy library at 116 S. 7^th Street in Hiawatha. We have a short business meeting following the meeting refreshments will be served.

September 2023 – NO MEETING

                Due to participating in the Highway 36 Treasure Hunt there will be no program or meeting in September.
